One of the things I love about being a mom is the chance to see everything new through Matthew's eyes. He is so curious and doesn't miss a detail (He's definately Alan's son). He said two things recently that I had to share:
We were getting ready to go work in our garden - something he loves- when he turned very serious and he said: "Momma, God made the weeds and he might not like it if we go out there and yank them up". How do you explain that one?
And...
Matthew has a Noah's Ark playset, but has always insisted that the "Noah" is God! You should hear us sometimes - "Have you seen God?" "No, did you check under the bed?"! We've told him a million times that the toy is Noah, but he doesn't budge on his thinking. One day I asked Matthew why he thought the toy was God. He said: "If God made the animals, he wouldn't leave them when it stormed." He may have the details wrong, but I feel pretty sure he understood a little bit of God's heart...

Cousins!
Johnathon and Laura stopped by on their way home from visiting our grandparents. We loved a chance to see them (OK, we really want to see the kids, but we love their parents, too!).
The good news is...
...Matthew is not allergic to bees. The bad news is we discovered this after he stepped on a bee at a friend's birthday party! Poor guy! He tried so hard to be brave and not spoil the party. On the way home, he said:
"Momma, You know what I was thinking about. I was thinking for being so brave, I should get a snowcone!"
And he did.

Happy Mother's Day!
This Mother's Day, I got the same thing I get every year, and it's always exactly what I wanted: a whole afternoon with my guys. After church, we played at home until dinner. Then we went to Cheddar's (my favorite) and Starbucks (one grande vanilla latte, one tall mocha latte, one kids soy milk). Alan also helped Matthew make my card - I loved it! I really like quotes and Alan always finds the best ones to write in my cards. Here's this year's quote:
"A mother is a person who, seeing there are only four pieces of pie
for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie"
T. Jordan
Love it! Hope your Mother's Day was great.
Congratulations Laura!!!
We went to Aunt Laura's graduation from Mary Hardin Baylor last weekend - way to go Laura! She finished her degree while having TWO babies - we are all impressed. Speaking of babies...I was on-duty, so there are only a couple of pics. Holding on to small children and snapping photographs is as hard as it looks!
