Squeaky Shoes

Have you seen (or heard) the toddlers shoes that squeak?  Seriously, it sounds like mice are being strangled every time your baby takes a step.  That's why I said my children would never have a pair.  And they haven't. Until today.  But I hold God responsible.

Helen's roly-poly foot requires a specialty baby shoe that runs about $35.  I've been scouting out resale shops, all local stores, outlets, even e-bay for a cheaper pair.  No luck.  Then today, Alan kept the kids while I ran by one of our resale stores.  There they were - her size and exactly the color and style I wanted for her!  What are the odds of finding exactly what I needed and wanted for $6.09?!  Little blessings like that make me smile.  So, I figure if God wants her shoes to squeak, who am I to argue? 

And, yes, she loves them.

The Zoo

This was Helen's first trip to the zoo.  She loved feeding the "quack quacks" with Daddy.

Matthew really loved the Bird Walkabout.

The Next Time...

I admit it.  I used to see moms at the store - you know, the ones whose kids try to climb the conveyor belt- and judge.  I'd think, "two words for you, friend: "mentor mom".  I mean, how hard can it be to control your toddler? 

Now I know.

  I am that mom...the one who can't find her toothpaste coupon because her daughter is eating it.  So next time you're at Target and you see her, don't judge.  Think of me, smile at her. Better yet, offer to hold her coupons!

The Park

All my favorite people....

 Our wild child...this picture is blurry because she wants to go fast!  I was pushing her slowly and she kept pointing to the older child next to her.  He was squealing and going really high.  She usually loves the swing, but wouldn't even smile.  Then I realized - she doesn't like slow.  Big surprise.  When I pushed her fast, we got the smile!

His Great Success

Matthew conquered two big goals at the park last weekend.  He rode his bike faster and farther than ever and he crossed the monkey bars all the way!  Good work, Matthew.
